Advantages of knowing your Metabolic Profile

30/10/2024

In endurance training, what works for the group sometimes does not work for the individual and each athlete’s training time is limited and therefore must be optimized. On the other hand, it is very difficult to manage a process (adaptation to training) that we cannot measure, that is why experienced and elite level athletes resort to controlling and evaluating their adaptation to training in order to train better. That’s why at TRIENDURE we created a service that allows you to better direct your training time and shorten the distance that separates you from your best self by evaluating your Individual Metabolic Profile for swimming, cycling and running.

5 advantages of knowing your Individual Metabolic Profile

  1. Greater precision in defining your training intensity zones
  2. You can guide your training by zones, that is, by your lactate, pace, watts and perceived effort values
  3. Target adaptations are acquired more quickly
  4. You can evaluate the effect of a training block on your profile and, if necessary, correct or reinforce it together with your coach
  5. You can evaluate whether the prescribed training tasks allow you to reach the target zone and correct them, if necessary, together with your coach

In short, you will be able to optimize your training and train better!

Your intensity zones may vary daily up or down depending on acute fatigue, your nutrition, recovery time, etc. and also depending on the duration and intensity of the training session, so it is important that athletes guide their training, no only by pace (min/km) or watts but also by heart rate and subjective perception of effort so that they can achieve the desired adaptation. When preparing for a longer race, such as a half marathon, marathon, cycling grand fondo, ironman 70.3 or full ironman, it is important to know the magnitude of the change in your Metabolic Profile in a situation of fatigue. It was with this type of athlete in mind that TRIENDURE created a test that allows you to know how duration and intensity affect your metabolic profile.

Know your Metabolic Profile – Post Fatigue

  1. After a certain amount of prior cycling or running work, the Metabolic Profile assessment allows us to understand how the duration of effort and amount of work performed affects each athlete’s cycling/running zones, which is quite relevant for pacing in long-distance cycling/triathlon, half marathon and marathon races
  1. When performed in running post-cycling, it allows you to understand how the duration of effort and amount of work in cycling affects the running intensity zones, allowing you to define target paces and heart rate for the cycling and running segments of a triathlon.

In short, you will be able to optimize your training and maximize performance in competition!

The vast majority of athletes need to focus on the 99% and not the 1% of performance. Instead of wasting your energy looking for the “silver bullet” to gain a few seconds, you need to first focus on training well and in accordance with your physiology. At TRIENDURE we follow this principle and we know that performance on race day largely depends on how we train and direct our training time, good or bad! Don’t delay any longer, take the first step and schedule an assessment of your individual metabolic profile with us.
